Hawaii COVID-19 Risk Level Drops

Hawaii’s COVID-19 risk level dropped from Very High to High today, Monday, February 21, 2022.

According to today’s new statistics, Hawaii has averaged 229 new confirmed cases per day (23.5% for every 100,000 residents) with an infection rate of 53%. The positive test rate is at 6.4% with 846,944 people (86.9%) having received at least one dose; 778,007 (79.8%) having received at least two doses or a single Johnson & Johnson dose; and 364,487 (37.4%) having received a booster shot.

In hospitals, Hawaii has reported having 158 staffed adult ICU beds. 81 are filled by non-COVID patients and 23 are filled by COVID patients. Overall, 104 out of 158 (66%) are filled. This suggests there is likely enough capacity to absorb a wave of new COVID infections.

Over the last week, Honolulu County, HI has averaged 4.0 daily deaths.

Recommendations Still Remain

Masks are now recommended for vaccinated individuals in public indoor spaces to reduce the spread of the Omicron variant. Unvaccinated people should continue to mask in all public spaces. See guidance on masks.
